BUYER PLANNING NOTES
Specify the wrapped unit
Identify whether the unit is an individual item, a tray or a grouped multipack. Record its dimensions, orientation and stability on the conveyor. Ask how products are spaced and transferred into the wrapping section, particularly when the upstream supply is irregular. Photographs help explain the format but do not replace dimensions or samples.
Confirm film and finishing scope
Provide the intended film specification and printed artwork registration requirements if known. Ask whether the proposal includes only wrapping or also grouping, shrinking, cooling, coding or label application. Do not assume that flow wrapping and shrink wrapping describe the same supply scope. Have the supplier mark included and excluded equipment on a line drawing.
Review the finished pack
Define what constitutes an acceptable wrap: position of the product, seal location, appearance and handling after discharge. Ask for trials covering normal operation, stops and restarts, and changes between your product sizes. Include access for film replacement and the procedure for clearing a jam in the technical review. Compare usable output for the agreed format rather than a headline speed alone.
