Estes EST-EW Metal-End Film Wrapper (EST-WL and EST-WS)
The Estes EST-EW series wraps stacked rolls of metal ends or caps in film. EST-WL takes parts in diameter bands from 52 to 189 mm and rolls of 500–750 mm at 20 kW. The single-lane EST-WS takes 52–153 mm parts and rolls of 400–800 mm at 11 kW. Both wrap 4–6 rolls a minute on 380 V and 300–400 L/min of air at 6 bar, and both detect flipped ends and reject them to the side. Send part drawings, stack length and film details for a matched offer.

What the EST-EW wrapper does
The Estes EST-EW series takes metal ends or caps that have been stacked into rolls and wraps each roll in film. It comes as EST-WL, with three diameter bands from 52 to 189 mm and rolls of 500–750 mm, and as the single-lane EST-WS, for parts of 52–153 mm in rolls of 400–800 mm. Both are rated at 4–6 rolls a minute, run on 380 V and detect flipped ends, which they reject to the side. The series suits end and cap plants that want finished parts packed into wrapped rolls at the end of the line.

Swipe or scroll the table to compare all columns.
| Parameter | EST-WL | EST-WS |
|---|---|---|
| Component diameter | Bands of 52–99, 99–140 or 140–189 mm | 52–153 mm |
| Roll length | 500–750 mm | 400–800 mm |
| Output unit and rate | 4–6 rolls/min | 4–6 rolls/min |
| Listed power | 20 kW | 11 kW |
| Electrical supply | 380 V, 50/60 Hz | 380 V, 50/60 Hz |
| Air entry | 300–400 L/min at 6 bar | 300–400 L/min at 6 bar |
Choose the variant from this table and ask Estes for the diameter band, tooling and utility demand of the machine it offers you. The page text also mentions a 52–200 mm chute-width range; the model table gives the narrower entries to quote from. [2]
Rolls per minute and ends per roll
A roll is the stack that gets wrapped, so 4–6 rolls/min is a stack rate. Turning it into ends per minute needs a confirmed count per roll and stated running conditions. Stack length alone will not give you that count, because part shape and the way parts nest change it.
Send the target count and stack length with physical samples. Ask whether counting and stack forming happen on the wrapper or upstream, what happens to a short stack and which stops count against output. Then compare suppliers on accepted wrapped rolls.
Film and the finished roll
Estes names microperforated shrink film for the series. The material list on the page uses abbreviations that are hard to read, so ask Estes for the approved film grade, thickness, width, roll and core dimensions and the running conditions for your parts. [2] The same applies to the Guqi GQL-4535, where POF or PVC is named as a film type and the commercial grade still has to be agreed in writing.
Describe the finished roll you expect: how firm the stack must be, how the film closes, how the roll is labelled and what appearance you accept. Tell Estes about the coating and edge shape of your parts so it can plan handling that avoids damage.
Flipped-end detection and line connections
The page describes flipped-end detection with side rejection. Ask Estes to show it catching the orientation fault on your own samples, and to show how rejects are separated and counted, what happens to the rest of the stack and how the line restarts. [2]
Flipped-end detection checks orientation. Dimensional, surface and leak inspection belong to separate machines, which then pass good parts on to the wrapper. Leak testing at Estes is a separate product line; a Zhejiang notice from December 2019 lists its EST-P aerosol-can leak equipment. [3] Also mark which lanes come with the wrapper and whether feeding or downstream pallet handling are options.
Trial and layout
Fix the WL or WS variant, part drawing, diameter band, roll length, count and film before the trial. Run every format you plan to wrap and record accepted output, damaged parts, incomplete wraps, detection events and stops. Include a film change and a format change if either matters to your shift pattern.
Ask for a layout showing feeding, rejection, wrapped-roll discharge, access and services. The power figure is a starting point for the electrical design, and the air entry gives flow and pressure only, so request the full installation drawing plus air-quality and connection requirements.
Points to settle in the contract
Before the order, get these from Estes on paper:
- the variant, diameter band and roll length in a signed specification;
- the ends per roll for your part and the output in wrapped rolls under stated conditions;
- the exact film grade and roll specification approved for the machine;
- what is included: counting, stack forming, lanes, feeding and downstream handling.

Buyer questions
Is 52–200 mm the guaranteed diameter range?
The model table gives narrower bands for each variant. Ask Estes for a signed specification of the configuration it offers. [2]
Does the 20 kW figure apply to the single-lane WS?
The table lists 20 kW for WL and 11 kW for WS. Size the supply for the variant you buy. [2]
Which film should I buy for the EST-EW?
The page's material list is unclear. Ask Estes to name the approved film grade and test it on your parts.
