Yutong Steel-Edge Wooden Box Production Machine

Yutong's steel-edge wooden box machine belongs to the equipment that makes wooden shipping boxes: boxes of wood or plywood panels held together by formed steel edges. It sits in Yutong's steel-edge box machinery range, next to its steel-strip forming lines. The product page shows the machine and names it but lists no model code or output table. Send Yutong your finished box drawing, panel and steel-edge details and the sizes you make, and ask for the model, tooling, utilities and output for your box.

Steel-edge box machine in brief

Yutong's steel-edge wooden box machine is part of a range for making shipping boxes from wood or plywood panels framed with steel edges. Hangzhou Yutong lists it under steel-edge box machinery, alongside the steel-strip forming equipment it describes on its company page. The product page is dated December 2021 and shows a photograph with the product name, without a model code, output rate or size table. It suits plants that build steel-edged wooden boxes and want to form edges or assemble boxes in-house. [1][2]

Where it fits in a packaging plant

This machine makes the shipping container itself, so this site files it under container forming. It sits upstream of a filling machine, a shrink or stretch wrapper or a carton closer, which handle a product after the box or pack exists.

Ask Yutong to mark every step on your process map as included, optional, manual or outside its scope. That gives you one sheet to hold each quote against.

Comparing output

Yutong may quote a forming speed, parts per minute or finished boxes per hour. Each figure needs its unit, the material, the part dimensions and the number of operators behind it. The product page gives no rate, so ask for one for this machine; figures from Yutong's other machines belong to those machines.

For a full line, the slowest step and the buffer between steps decide how many finished boxes come off the end. Count only good boxes at the agreed end point. If you buy a single component machine, count its good parts and write that narrower figure into the contract. The Bravan BR-U blowing series, another container-forming machine on this site, prints bottles-per-hour figures and labels them theoretical, a useful reminder to ask which kind of figure you are getting.

Steel, panels and tooling

Send your steel and panel specifications with samples where you can. Ask Yutong to state the material range the machine accepts and to supply tooling drawings or a tooling list. Find out what has to change when the profile size or box size changes.

"Customized" can still mean new tooling for each new format. Ask for a matrix of included sizes, adjustments, spare tooling and sizes it will not run. Have Yutong carry out a typical size change during the factory trial and hand over the setup instructions with the acceptance record.

Trial and acceptance

For formed parts, agree dimension, appearance and joint checks against your drawing. For assembled boxes, agree assembly checks and any load or drop test with whoever specifies your shipments. Yutong's pages give no load rating or transport certification for the boxes, so set those tests yourself.

Run the trial on your own steel and panels. Record good output, rejects, stoppages and operator tasks. If some assembly stays manual, include that labour when you work out boxes per hour. A photo sequence or a machine cycling empty tells you little about production speed.

Confirm before ordering

The page date is older, so ask for the current revision of the machine and its availability. A mark on the catalogue photograph is no substitute for a conformity declaration; if you need CE, ask for the declaration that covers your configuration. [2]

Have Yutong put the following in writing:

  • which model it proposes, with a dated specification;
  • the installed layout, utilities, maintenance needs and service terms;
  • price, delivery date and the validity of any certificate it supplies;
  • permission to use its product photographs if you plan to publish them.

Buyer questions

Is this comparable to a carton sealer?

No. It makes steel-edged wooden boxes, a different process from closing cartons around a product. [2]

What output does Yutong publish for it?

The product page gives no production rate. Ask for a figure for your box, with its unit and test conditions.

Is the machine still made, given the 2021 page date?

The date shows when the page went up. Ask Yutong for the current configuration and lead time.
