Bravan BR-U Servo PET Bottle Blowing Machine Series

Bravan's BR-U series is a family of servo-driven blow-molding machines that turn PET preforms into empty bottles. Five models cover bottles from 0.6 L up to 2.5 L, with four to eight cavities and theoretical output from 6,000 to 12,000 bottles an hour. Each model has its own neck, diameter and height limits, so the fastest machine is a small-bottle machine. Use the tables to shortlist a model, then send Bravan your preform and bottle drawings and ask for a quote that lists the mold, air and cooling scope.

BR-U series in brief

The BR-U series is Bravan's high-speed servo line for blowing empty PET bottles from preforms. The five models run from the eight-cavity BR-8U0.6L at a theoretical 12,000 bottles an hour on bottles up to 0.6 litres, to the four-cavity BR-4U2.5L at 6,000 an hour on bottles up to 2.5 litres. Installed power ranges from 50 kW to 78 kW and all models blow at 35 bar. The series suits plants that form their own bottles ahead of a filling line. [2]

Output, cavities and power by model

Bravan labels these rates as theoretical. Your accepted output will depend on your preform, mold and installation, and the figures cover bottle forming only. [2]

Bottle size limits by model

BR-6U1L30 mm80 mm300 mm
BR-5U1.5L30 mm95 mm350 mm
BR-4U2.5L38 mm120 mm350 mm

A bottle has to fit every limit in its row. A 1-litre bottle wider than 80 mm, for example, moves up to BR-5U1.5L even though BR-6U1L matches its volume. Only BR-4U2.5L takes a 38 mm neck. Bravan should still assess your actual bottle and preform before it confirms a model. [2]

Check your filling machine at the same time. The Zhongya DABL series lists bottle capacities of one litre or less, so a 2.5-litre bottle from BR-4U2.5L would need a different filler.

Compressed air, cooling and power

The table gives 35 bar blowing pressure for every model. High-pressure air flow varies by model, so have Bravan and your compressor designer agree the figure for your configuration. The kW column shows installed power; energy per bottle has to be measured on your own bottle. [2]

Request the air quality, connections, cooling conditions and electrical schedule for the machine you are quoted. Ask who supplies the compressor, air treatment, receiver, chiller, molds and bottle transfer. Bravan sells related equipment, so list each item by name to see what the quoted price covers.

Servo drives

Servo motors drive stretching, clamping, preform entry and bottle discharge on these machines. Get the servo drive and controller list for your build, the recommended spare parts, and who handles support for each component. [2]

Planning a bottle trial

Send the actual preform drawing, its material and weight, plus the proposed bottle drawing. Agree the mold and neck configuration and define acceptable geometry, appearance and the bottle tests your product needs with your technical team.

During the trial, record accepted bottles, rejected bottles and every stop over an agreed run time. Keep the preform, mold, settings and utility conditions with the report. If air or energy use drives your choice, agree where consumption is measured and include the compressor and chiller in that boundary.

For several bottle formats, ask for a change-parts list and run one representative changeover. Time it, because the page's quick neck change wording gives no figure for your formats.

Points to settle in writing

Before placing an order, get Bravan's written answer on:

  • the accepted output it will commit to for your bottle, next to the theoretical figure;
  • the CE declaration and supporting documents for your exact configuration;
  • the baseline and test method behind the percentage improvements on the product page, measured on the same bottle, preform and boundary if you plan to compare machines;
  • the full scope split between machine, molds, air system, cooling and transfer.

Buyer questions

Does 12,000 bottles an hour apply to the 2.5-litre model?

No. BR-4U2.5L is rated at a theoretical 6,000 bottles an hour. The 12,000 figure belongs to BR-8U0.6L. [2]

Does the power figure tell me the running cost?

It gives installed power. Running cost depends on measured consumption on your bottle, including the compressor and chiller.

Is the machine CE marked?

The product page uses CE-related wording. Ask Bravan for the declaration that covers your configuration.
