BUYER PLANNING NOTES

Describe every item in the carton

List the product, inserts, leaflets and other components that must be loaded. Provide their orientation, count and dimensions, plus a sample carton or drawing. Ask whether feeding these components is included or depends on manual work or separate equipment. Keep the loading arrangement visible in the quotation comparison.

Define carton and closure requirements

Specify carton size limits, board details when known, and the intended closure. Ask the supplier to confirm compatibility using your carton samples rather than assuming all cartons within a size range behave identically. Identify where lot information or other project-specific markings must appear and who supplies the coding equipment.

Test completeness and changeover

Discuss how missing products, incomplete cartons and interruptions will be identified and handled. Agree which checks are required and whether reject handling is included. Request a changeover demonstration between the actual carton formats, including tooling and settings. Record operator tasks, access space and the interface with upstream wrapping or filling equipment before choosing a line layout.
