Wolf VPP 250 Recipe-Controlled Vertical Packaging Machine
The VPP 250 is a vertical packaging machine from Wolf Hangzhou built around its controls. A PLC stores up to 100 production recipes, and a colour touchscreen sets forming size, fill quantity, drop timing, sealing temperature and film correction. Wolf adds input checks meant to stop wrong entries, and describes the machine as low-cost and low-maintenance. It suits plants that switch often between bag sizes or fill weights. Send Wolf two of your real jobs and ask it to quote the VPP 250 with a timed changeover between them.

VPP 250 at a glance
The VPP 250 is Wolf Hangzhou's recipe-driven vertical packaging machine. Its PLC holds up to 100 production recipes, and a colour touchscreen is used to set and watch the running values. Wolf names forming dimensions, fill quantity, drop timing, sealing temperature and film correction among the stored settings, and says the input logic helps prevent wrong entries. The machine suits packers who run many products or bag formats and want each job's setup saved. Wolf gives no bag-size range, speed table or list of motorized adjustments. [1]
What a recipe covers
A recipe saves the numbers. Forming tools, dosing hardware and film reels may still be changed by hand, so plan the purchase around your real changeover more than the size of the recipe library.
Swipe or scroll the table to compare all columns.
| Feature | What Wolf describes | What to settle before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Recipe storage | Up to 100 production recipes | Capacity in the delivered software and how jobs are named |
| Operator screen | Colour touchscreen | Screen language, user levels and the daily workflow |
| Stored settings | Fill quantity, drop time, sealing temperature and more | Which values load automatically and which need a hand adjustment |
| Entry checks | Helps stop incorrect input | The actual limits and warnings, shown on the machine |
| Size and output | Not given in figures | The operating range for the quoted configuration |
Wolf also calls the machine low-cost and low-maintenance. The page gives no price, service schedule, running cost or payback figure, so ask for those numbers in the offer.
Test recipe recall with two real jobs
Pick two jobs that differ in a way that matters, such as bag size or fill weight. Ask Wolf to write down the mechanical steps, film change and setpoints for each. Run job one, switch to job two, then go back to job one from its stored recipe. That round trip tells you far more than a screen full of recipe names.
Count the bags scrapped before good production returns, and note whether the operator has to correct any value after loading the recipe. Saved settings cut repeat typing, yet material variation can still call for fine tuning. Wolf makes no promise that a loaded recipe produces a good bag first time, so check the first bags after every switch.
Protecting approved settings
Ask how the controller tells an approved recipe from a temporary tweak. Find out whether the quoted system has user permissions, backups, recipe export or a change log, and have Wolf show any it includes. The product page mentions none of these.
Agree what happens if the controller is replaced or the stored recipes are lost. Name who keeps the commissioning record and how the machine is restored. Storage for 100 recipes says nothing about backup or recovery time. Keep a signed setup sheet for each approved job with the machine documents, even with electronic storage in place.
Settings and the finished bag
Sealing temperature is one stored value. A good seal also depends on the film and the running conditions, so ask Wolf to trial your production film and record the approved settings and inspection method. A steady temperature on screen and a sound seal on every bag are separate checks. Wolf's VPZ140 puts its weight on film guiding and registration-mark cutting instead. If misplaced print is your main headache, compare the two machines on that job and leave recipe count aside.
Fill-quantity settings work the same way. Identify the filler, the trial material and how finished packs will be weighed or measured. The VPP page names no dosing unit and no accuracy figure. Wolf's VCI pages list each feeder type offered for that vertical bagger, so ask for the VPP 250 quote to name its feeder just as clearly, and attach it to the equipment schedule and acceptance terms.
Confirm before ordering
Ask Wolf to put in writing:
- the recipe capacity of the control version you are quoted;
- which settings are motorized and which are adjusted by hand;
- a maintenance schedule with intervals, parts and cost assumptions.

Frequently asked questions
Can 100 recipes run 100 products without changes?
No. The figure is storage capacity. Each product still needs its own check on hardware and suitability. [1]
Is every adjustment motorized?
Wolf's page lists settings without saying which ones move automatically. Ask Wolf to show the physical changeover.
Is the VPP 250 maintenance-free?
Promotional wording is no substitute for a manual. Ask for the inspection, cleaning, lubrication and parts-replacement duties that match your production hours.
